Did you know????
The Maltese is one of the oldest
known companion Dogs?
The Maltese dog has a history dating back 28 centuries. The exact origins of the breed
are still debated today, the fact remains that Darwin, the father of
the theory of evolution, placed it at about 6,000 B.C. --

"The Sweetest Maltese Puppies
in the South"

The sweet, loving, affectionate,
easygoing, yet fearless temperaments of the Maltese make them excellent
companions for children and adults alike. This gentle breed will simply
melt your heart! The
Maltese live to please their owners, so this makes them very easy to
train. The Maltese can be trained for obedience, agility, hearing impaired
service dogs, therapy or almost anything else.
Some small breeds often have the
reputation for being difficult to house train but the Maltese is fairly
easy due to their high intelligence and willingness to please.
The
Maltese Dog/Puppy can live amicably
with other Maltese
dogs or other pets in the household.

Maltese
are gentle dogs and have a great reputation for getting along well
with other pets within your home, even German Shepherds. :) The Maltese is
very happy, affectionate, highly intelligent with a charming sense of
humor. Maltese are very content sleeping in your lap but just as
thrilled to play and romp around.

The Maltese has a beautiful flowing white
silky coat, black eyes and a very happy demeanor. Daily brushing is
essential to keep the silky coat looking its best. The dark round eyes
with black trim, give them an alert yet gentle expression.

The
size is very important as the Maltese is a toy breed. The Maltese should
always be less than seven pounds in weight by adulthood, preferably
between 4-6 pounds.
Due to the fact that Maltese pups are so
tiny, they should stay with their mothers and littermates until 12 weeks
of age. Prior to 12 weeks of age, the small Maltese must be watched
carefully to be sure they eat properly and frequently. Weaning is not
hurried and it takes time for these tiny puppies with tiny mouths to
manage solid foods. Usually by 12 weeks of age the puppies are eating
well and thriving.
Maltese puppies are in high demand but it is
very important to get a well bred puppy to avoid health problems in the
future. At Candyland Maltese we feel that Quality is more important than Quantity.
